The town of Rovereto is located among the landscapes of Vallagarina, a carpet of precious vineyards and the Dolomites. It is located in the southern part of Trentino, a few kilometers from the border with Veneto. Its territory is crossed by the Adige and Leno rivers, and is dotted with castles and evidence of its ancient industriousness.

Its strategic position for trade, travel and military garrison has made these territories attractive since prehistoric times, as demonstrated by the archaeological finds that can be admired today at the Rovereto Civic Museum.
They call it the „Gateway to Trentino-Alto Adige”, the city of „Oak, Silk and Peace”. In the 18th century, the city was the capital of silk; walking along the Leno River, you can still see traces of old spinning mills. Rovereto has always represented the intersection of different territories and cultures, between plains and mountains, between ancient histories and new perspectives on the future. Spring is probably the most magical time to visit the city. While the mountain peaks are still covered in snow, the valley awakens in vibrant colors. The Vallegarina is shaded in white and pink, offering perfect landscapes for bike rides along the Adige cycle path.

Rovereto’s historic center: a Venetian legacy.
Walking through the center of Rovereto is like walking through centuries of history. The influence of the Venetian Republic, which ruled here in the 15th century, is visible in the frescoed facades and imposing buildings. Piazza San Marco is the vibrant heart of the city center, dominated by the Church of San Marco.
A splendid village with cobbled alleys, lively and vibrant, which, together with the surrounding Vallagarina, forms a true cultural district, with a multitude of events spread throughout the year. The season opens the doors to open-air festivals and the first tastings in the cellars of the „Strada del Vino e del Sapori”, where new wine and local products celebrate the return of good weather.
It is worth visiting and admiring the splendid architecture and period buildings: 12 museums, such as the Depero Futuristic Museum – the only museum founded by a futurist himself, Fortunato Depero, and which is an explosion of colour, tapestries and avant-garde graphics; MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), the Rovereto Civic Museum; 7 castles, including Rovereto Castle, which dominates the town and houses the Museum of Italian War History; and 50 historic buildings and churches.
Rovereto exudes a Central European atmosphere. Its culture is deeply influenced by the passage of great figures, such as Mozart, who gave his first Italian concert here in 1769, at Palazzo Fedrigotti. Just outside the town centre, in the Lavini di Marco area, you can admire hundreds of fossilised footprints dating back 200 million years, left by herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs. For those who love nature trails on foot, by bike or by e-bike, the Rovereto area offers a range of over 200 trails, including 40 dedicated to walking and hiking and 30 for mountain biking.

Visit Rovereto at sunset, when the sun lights up the red buildings and the village seems to return, for a magical moment, to the golden age of its foundation. What are you waiting for?!…pack your bags, let’s go on a journey of discovery!
