On August 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, under the Patronage of the CONSULATE GENERAL of the REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA IN MILAN – Consul General Mr. ADRIAN POPESCU, hosted an extraordinary event dedicated to the Romanian Language Day.


The event brought together members of the diaspora, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, people of culture and leaders of the Romanian and Moldovan Associations in the Lombardy Region.
Among the guests of honor who participated and contributed to the realization of this event:
The event began with a welcome speech from the diplomatic representatives, who emphasized the role of the Romanian language as a central pillar of national identity, cohesion and cultural continuity for Moldovans and Romanians living abroad.
The following spoke: Consul General of the Republic of Moldova, ADRIAN POPESCU; Consul IOAN IACOB – CONSULATE GENERAL OF ROMANIA IN MILAN, through his very emotional intervention, conveyed a message of union and collaboration and partnership between the two Consulates: of Romania and Moldova;

  • Prof. VIOLETA POPESCU – historian, researcher, man of culture, founder of the ITALIAN-ROMANIAN CULTURAL CENTER IN ITALY – organizer and coordinator, impeccably presented the theme ” „Latinity and the Romanian language in the testimonies of Italian humanists – Middle Ages and Renaissance;
  • Prof. OLGA IRIMCIUC – translator, researcher and philologist originally from the Republic of Moldova, established in Italy, specialized in promoting the Romanian language and literature in the Italian space – presenting the theme: „Dialogism in Bessarabian poetry between tradition and modernity”;
  • Prof. TUDOR TOMOZEI: Professor, historian and researcher from the Republic of Moldova appreciated for his contributions to the study and promotion of national history, currently holds the position of Vice President of the SIMA GRU Society, Bussero, province of Milan – his extraordinary contribution with a Monologue about the Romanian language „Reflections on the Romanian identity and speech”;
    -Actress ANIȘOAREA MUNTEANU: artistic interpretation full of emotion and reflection through the reading from the volume „Pe coarde dulci” Florilegiu de poezie românească (Rediviva Publishing House, Milan);
    -Musical recital with the extraordinary participation of the artist ANCA VASILE CARAMAN, violin – an excellence in the world of classical music, violin teacher, composer, obtaining numerous awards in Romania and internationally, she delighted the audience present with an impeccable and very moving interpretation, with works from the repertoire of the great Romanian composers GEORGE ENESCU and CIPRIAN PORUMBESCU, and not only;
  • Musical recital CLARA VISMARA- flute, execution with impeccable technical precision;
    The guests held lyrical and musical moments dedicated to the mother tongue. Verses signed by classics such as Grigore Vieru, Mihai Eminescu or Alexei Mateevici resounded, as well as creations by authors from the Diaspora.
    On this occasion, a painting exhibition entitled „MY MOLDOVA” by artists ANTONINA and VITALIE GRIȘCIUC was exhibited to the public.
    Among the guests present were representatives of the Orthodox Church in Milan; young people and children from the community, dressed in traditional costumes, shirts with aliță, bringing an extra touch of color and authenticity to the celebration.

  • The event ended in a spirit of warm brotherhood, reaffirming the commitment of the diplomatic mission to support the identity and cultural values ​​of the Republic of Moldova in Italy.
    Romanian Language Day is celebrated every year on August 31st; it represents a reverence brought to the identity treasure that unites all Romanians, regardless of whether they live within the country’s borders or in diaspora communities.
    The Romanian language is the central pillar of national consciousness – a spiritual hearth where we shelter memory, history and aspirations.
    The roots of the Latinization of the Romanian language represent the bridge to history!!!
