A press conference for the fourth edition of the Palestinian Film Festival in Sweden was held yesterday, Sunday, in the Swedish city of Helsingborg. The event was attended by media outlets and journalists, representatives from supporting institutions and companies, and individuals interested in cinema and culture.
Festival President Yahya Abu Watfa opened the conference by welcoming the attendees, media representatives, and supporting organizations. He emphasized the festival’s importance in showcasing Palestinian and Arab cinema and in creating a space for dialogue and connection through the medium of film.
For his part, the festival’s Executive Director, filmmaker Basem Al-Basem, outlined the highlights of the fourth edition. He introduced the guests of honor and the cinematic and artistic figures set to be honored during the festival, including Swedish director Pip Holmquist, the late Palestinian director Mohammad Bakri, actress Shireen, director Khaled Youssef, director Haitham Hakki, Syrian actor Fares Al-Helou, artist Abdel Hakim Qutaifan, and Syrian director Saad Loustan.
Additionally, Ms. Nabila Al-Ali provided a detailed overview of the seminars and discussion panels included in the festival program, as well as the topics to be addressed, featuring the participation of various filmmakers, guests, and critics. For his part, Artistic Director and filmmaker Mohammed Al-Sahli outlined the details of the films participating in the fourth edition, as well as the selection and programming process, highlighting the diversity of the films and the themes they address. He also announced the members of the jury for the fourth edition of the Palestinian Film Festival in Sweden:
